The Right gets its own Ward Churchill ...
In his latest column against same-sex marriage, Fox News anchor John Gibson writes:
Gays can't have kids — other than going to the abandoned kids store and getting one or two, or borrowing sperm from someone with more sperm than brains — so by definition they're out of the marriage game.
Abandoned kids store? Someone with more sperm than brains?
With one short sentence, Gibson has insulted adoption agencies and every man and woman who has ever worked for one; adopted children; the biological parents who gave away their children instead of aborting them; every adoptive parent who has ever taken in and raised a needy orphan; sperm donors (who, unlike Fox News anchors, are tested for intelligence when they apply) and fertility clinics; same-sex couples with children; and, incidentally, every Gay and Lesbian person within the sound of his loathsome little voice.
As affronts to civilized discourse go, Gibson's latest column is right up there with Ward Churchill's remark about "little Eichmanns." Do you think Fox News, which has led the cry against Churchill, will be equally severe toward extremists in their own ranks?
Don't hold your breath.
